Alright so i bought a 94 explorer and it ran great for four months... the last two months i've been having 1-2 flares. I had a vacuum hose disconnect and the vacuum cap pop off, so i thought that that was the suspect. the exploder starting running better, but the flare remained.

I came to the conclusion my modulator is bad, however i dont have the white smoke. All symptoms except that.... is it a bad modulator? or something more serious?

thanks.... :salute:

The design of the modulator prevents a very fast leak that causes smoke. Smoke can occur from pooling in the manifold on occasion. From your description it is most likely the modulator. Good luck getting to it. Some people cut a hole in the floor board.

real easy to see if it's the modulator...if you pull the vac line off of the vac tree ( transmission vac line) and if you notice red fluid in the line then "yepper" it's shot .

Isn't there a hole already there for the manual transmission? aren't people accessing it that way?

Brooklyn, will i see what pin you're talking about right away?

and thanks, love this site... its been my number one source the last six months, just now finally joined

You should be able to get to it from the bottom. You don't have 4x4 components in the way. Yes the floorplate is removable, i don't know why people cut into the floor.
