Last night we serviced the transmission on our 1993 Explorer. Dropped the pan, changed the filter and gasket and bolted the pan back on. We added three quarts of fluid which included a 24oz bottle of Lucas Transmission Fix. All references indicate four quarts are needed to refill. The fluid is now high on the dipstick even after sitting over night. Any ideas why?

Are you checking on level ground with the engine on?

Filter change is only about 2.5 to 3 quarts total..

Yes, checking on level ground with the engine on transmission hot and went through all of the gears several times. We even drove if about 5 miles this morning and checked it again. Level remains the same and is still high on the stick

Yea if you did 3 plus a 24 oz additive its too much.. Use a siphon hose and a pump and force out about a 1/2 quart in steps until its at the right level. Or just let it overheat and let it dump fluid.. lol

It was actually 2 ¼ qtrs. plus the 24oz bottle of Lucas Transmission Fix which equals approximately 3 qtrs., one quart less that the recommend refill.
