This is just a heads up for you new EX owners.I was checking out the explorer after a road trip and noticed a drop of transmission fluid on the rear case to housing bolts.I also noticed some, what appeared to be sludge,on the crossmember behind the transmission.I wiped it off and checked again this morning, there was no more that I could see.
I took it in for an oil change today, old school change at 1130 miles. The mechanic looked for the leak but did not find it.He put some oil dye in the tranny and we will check it at the next service unless I see a larger leak.He suspects it is a seal and was blown back to where I seen the oil.The service manager said they were having a simular problem on some new Edges.
I hope this is just an isolated issue, but just a word to the wise.
