I wanted to know this as well !

Al :, did you get the gauge in yet ?

Re: I wanted to know this as well !

Yes and am posting about in in the Aux Filter thread later today.

Mine will normally run between 150-195 in even most extreme driving conditions, especially as hot as it is out here. From what I can tell, even when I travelled into the mountains last week, the stock transmission cooler is sufficient. On the other hand, I'm still thinking about putting either a fan on my tranny cooler or installing a tranny cooler with a fan on it. I would like the piece of mind when I'm either trying to climb really slowly or tugging on stuff.

found a post from Gary ! about the temp.

For every 20 degrees F you take your transmission operating temperature over normal (about 170) you cut the life of the tranny in half. For instance, if the tranny is designed to last 100,000 miles, running it at 190 will reduce the life to 50,000. At 210, down to 25,000. You have been lucky but your tranny is taking a beating. When you get ready to change the ATF, consider a synthetic like AMSOIL. We typically reduce operating temps 20 to 50 degrees F and last up to 3 times longer than conventional ATF.

I just switched the lines on my tranny filter setup, they were going in the correct direction, but the the cooler was before the filter on my setup,so my gauge was reading slightly lower, now I have the tranny-out to filter-in,to cooler, then back into the tranny.after about twenty minutes of hard driving,it never went above 150 F.I have been using Amsoil ATF for the last 27k !
