Hi, I have some questions regarding a problem with my transmission. I have 97 4wd sohc Explorer with the 5r55e transmission and 120,000 miles. I have read thru the numerous posts and have a few questions and problems. My main problem is reverse, sometimes when I shift to reverse it is delayed with a sudden slam shift. It is intermittent and seems to operate O.K. afterwards. I saw a post referencing the reverse servo and wondered if anybody could supply me with info on needed parts (seals, gasket, etc). Also, I do not have any of the shifting problems others have but was wondering if it would be a good idea to update the plate and gaskets per the bulletin while I have it opened up. Another minor problem is related to the parking pawl not engaging and the vehicle rolling foward a few feet while making a skipping sound. Does anyone know whether the pawl engagement is totally mechanical with a direct mechanial connection or does it operate with any hydraulic pressure? Any type of adjustment on the linkage? I only tow a boat about once a month and just drive to work and try to take it easy. Since the reverse problem started I try to give the tranny a couple of seconds to make the shift before I gas it which seems to help but I need to fix the problem. I would like to take a proactive approach to fixing it and any other problems I can knock-out at the same time while servicing it and adjusting the bands. Thanks,Greg
