Little background here. I recently bought an explorer (07 4.0 with 140k) that barely ran. Radiator was busted and the lady let it overheat. The car would barely run but was able to move slightly before eventually stalling. I dont remember how it drove but i think it drove fine from the couple of hundred feet we moved it. (trailer-ed it when buying) Fast forward buy a replacement engine and swap it in. Starts up and runs great. Go for a drive an immediately feels like trans is in higher gear than it needs to be. It doesn't really like to go from a stop. I am pretty sure i would of noticed this before so i think it's a new problem. I recently has a maxima that needed trans solenoids and this feels just like it.

Also after the drive since there was some trans fluid lost during the swap we did add a bunch of trans fluid into the transmission and still drives the same. Mind you i havent really taken it past 30mph just a few blocks down etc. Check engine light shows a ton of trans codes. From solenoids to pressure to trq converter. ( i can get codes if need be i think it was a total of 8)

My question is there something that needed to be done or checked. Fairly certain everything is hooked up electronics wise, but i can check.

On top of me feeling the trans was fine before i have spoken to the lady as well that owned it and she also states the transmission had no issues ever.

Suggestions? Advice? Etc

I am a bit new to Ford's, so maybe there is something i am overlooking.

Any help is appreciated.

Maybe when they changed radiator, they let too much trans fluid come out. I'm no expert, just know that trans fluid cools through the radiator. I think I have a similar issue, but i'm not sure what fitting I need to check or add fluid.

I saw somewhere here on the forum, there is a special tool to check and one for filling up. Both go through the drain bold hole. Maybe someone else will chime in with these answers.
