Hi all.
Last year my transmission went on my 08 explorer. The service place that diagnosed it gave me two options : a rebuild with 1 year warranty or rebuild with 3 year warranty. I planned on keeping this vehicle for awhile, so I decided to go with the 3 year for about $600 more.
After they installed the tranny, they informed me that the drive shaft was no good and they left it out, saying it needed to be replaced.
I took it to two places to see if they could repair it and they said it seemed like it was ok. I told this to the place that did the tranny and asked them to put it back. They said that if they did, that the warranty would be void (yea the one I paid extra for) and made my wife sign a paper.
Well today (15 months later) my wrench light came on and then a few hours later the tranny took a crap.
My questions are:
(1) Even if the drive shaft were bad, can it ultimately cause my new tranny to fail like this, and if so, could this had been my original issue all along? I have not even used the 4 wheel drive at all.
(2) Can this place really tell me to go pound sand and not honor this warranty after spending $2700 to have this thing done?
Any help would be appreciated before I call them tomorrow.
Thanks
