Hoping that someone can point me in the right direction with this, as the Ford Dealer isn’t much help. When I am travelling fast on motorways, speeds around 70 mph, if I take my foot off the gas there is a noise (I think) from the transmission that sounds like a small cog spinning round very fast. If I put my foot on again, even slightly, it goes away. Its been like this for a while, just happening occasionally/intermittently, but recently its happening every time I go out on the motorway, but not during local driving, say speeds up to 50mph. A few weeks ago, I was in heavier traffic on the motorway and so was breaking a lot more and this time the noise remained right down to low speeds. After pulling off into the services, with the drive in Park, I was still rolling forward and reverse wouldn’t work. It was like some cog was not in the right place.
I got towed home, tried it the next day by driving forward and it somehow corrected itself, but I am back to the noise on the motorway.
The Ford dealer said the transmission fluid was low and topped it up but couldn’t recreate the problems I was having (and for some reason were reluctant to take it out on the motorway to try). I am wondering why the fluid level wasn’t checked at the last service that was very recent. I saw some other messages that indicated that problems with the regulator/loss of voltage or something like that could cause changes in gears.
Anyone got ant ideas?
