hey guys. i dont frequent this site as much as most, but i know when i have a problem, you guys will have the answers :chug:

so i was out yesterday and picked up some dinner. i go to leave, and it wont shift into gear. goes into reverse just fine, wouldnt go into drive, 1 or 2. i even tried 4wl and 4wh. nothing. i checked the fluid and the level seems fine. what should i try next?

i was thinking of dropping the pan, and changing the filter/fluid. might help, but i did this maybe a year and a half ago with minimal miles since then.

any thoughts?

Changing the fluid won't fix a trans that won't engage a gear. Dropping the pan and checking the valve body gasket and bolts for tightness might be a place to start. I'm sure others with better auto trans knowledge will have better advice.

How many miles do you have? Did you ever rebuild the valve body or replace the EPC solenoid?

nope. never have. only had the truck for about two years now. it has 120 k on it. not sure of the history. is the valve body and solenoid fairly easy to handle for a weekend mechanic?
