quick question about the transmission (94 XLT)

it seems to be slipping sometimes, or shifting late in low gears.

when I first start driving, sometimes it will feel like it slips in like 1st or 2nd gear. It doesn't always do it, but recently I noticed it a few times.

It doesn't really happen in higher gears, or when I have been driving for a while.

Also sometimes when I put it in Reverse it sounds harsh when it gets into gear...

any ideas or am I being paranoid?

thanks

You aren't paranoid, people are out to get you. I would think the two things you are experiencing are a leaky low/reverse servo O ring and a sticking speed governor. Both of these you could easily work on without dropping the transmission.

yeah I have had that feeling my entire life...THE MAN is out to get me..

anyway...Im a newbie, so I dont even know how to do what you said..

anyway I stopped at this huge meineke on the way home from work (ok dont laugh, just wanted prices)..but the dude said if I never got a trans flush, then they don't reccomend getting one...is that right?

also they sounded reluctant about changing my trans filter......

so how do I do what you said?..if its too much to write, just tell me where to look..I have a ford cd, that has pretty much everything you need to do your own work...just Im not that experienced working on things like the trans...my gf's father is good, but sometimes he likes to "rig" stuff so I'd rather do it the right way...his motto seems to be...if it runs.its all good..lol

thanks

There are good threads of fixing both, do a search on here.... or do a google search using "Explorer Maintenance" as search terms. Check rebuild threads on here as well. The answers are out there.
