'97 Explorer Expedition
I have a 1997 Explorer that has had the tranny worked on twice so far. I am thinking of trading it in for a 2000 or 2001 model. Does the later models have the trouble that the earlier ones have? I really dont want to buy another vehicle and have problems again.

Thanks

The tranny on my 2000 has had a "hicup" once in a while, no passing gear. Oddly enough its intermitten and hasn't done it for a long timenow (knock on wood) But from what everyone says its gets better with age. in other words the later the design the better.

If your having issues with your 5R55E, I highly suggest going for the V8 models since they have the 4R70W or whatever the tranny is.. Those things are practically bullet proof.

Yeah, Im definitely going with a V-8 on the newer one. I also like the front end bumper styling lot better than current one and the rear seems to have a cleaner look too for some reason.

Thanks for the replys...
