Hey guys, I've been moving Trixie around the yard while waiting on my power window parts to arrive. Sometimes when hot she didn't want to actually kick into the gear and engage. Finally got the window parts and got it fixed so we took her down the road for new shoes. Decided to stop to get her inspected pn the way home.

She failed :( I have a leaking brake hose but we are going to replace both front hoses. Leaking power steering hose but need to see which it is and the rear axle seal needs replaced so we are going to do both of them as well. Just have to wait to get her back home. Even without all that she would still failed because the guy couldn't get her to move. After we got her home, hubby called a buddy who told him to take her to AAmco for diagnostic check. Got the results of that on Friday, and it wasn't good. They told me it looked like it might need a rebuild. So I authorized removing & disassembly of the tranny.

Checked back on Monday and the news was bad. Her torque converter had come apart and took out overdrive in the process. They showed hubby the parts so we know they gave it to me straight. (BTW Hubby used to be a mechanic but makes more $$ as welder). I did have some luck though because the other gears are all undamaged. And, they had a torque converter & overdrive gear set from where someone else had it ordered and then decided not to have the vehicle fixed. They showed hubby the receipts and we are getting them at cost. Also getting rear main seal done for just the cost of the seal.

Total for A4LD rebuild w/ new torque converter & overdrive set & replace rear main seal - just under $1800. Luckily, I have the funds to fix her so I am waiting to bring her back home. We even had my younger brother check with a friend of his w/ a tranny shop and he couldn't give us a better price.

When I got her I was given paperwork showing the engine had been gone through just a few thousand miles previous. So add the basically new tranny & the the other parts I am replacing and I know I will not have to worry about problems.

She's done :D Once hubby gets up and gets woke up good we are going down to get her. I've been bugging him to get the lead out because I want my baby home :) Yesterday I picked up both front brake hoses and a seal for both rear axles. We need to degrease to engine so I can see for sure which power steering hose is leaking. But we should be able to get her re-inspected on Monday. Gonna take that long because hubby works weekend shifts.

Well even tho that is pricy it beats the heck out of having to rebuild it yourself. If i had to guess on the powersteering hose i would check the one that is the biggest fitting on the pump. The oring on this line goes bad and then leaks. Mine did this for ages and it ended up a simple fix.
