Anyone know the the shift points for a stock 98X SOHC with a 5R55E? Not sure whether my tranny is shifting thru all the gears properly.

Also, anyone run into problems removing the tranny pan on a 98X. I couldn't funagle my pan out to save my life. See my thread posted on Explorations 911:

it is electronically controlled. unhook your battery for 15min then give it a try

Thanks Billy........I'll try diconnecting the battery. Just out of curiosity, since it's electronically controlled, does that mean if something was amiss (say one of my solenoids in the tranny was shot) that I would get a check engine light ?

the overdrive light would flash

The overdrive light would flash for problems with other gears or just the overdrive gear?

Lee

it will flash for any fault in the transmission it is like a check engine light for the tranny

Great... thanks for the info and the education.

Okay so now I'm curious about how the shift points are electronically controlled. Does the computer tell the tranny when to shift base on driving pattern/situations? I ask this because it seems to me that the shift points are not at the same speed every time. For instance, if I start up a hill from a stop it seems like the tranny says in the lower gears longer than it does if I startup from a stopped position on level ground. Am I imagining this or is this the way it was designed to work?

it is a combonation of the speed and throttl position
