Hello,
Does anyone have exp. w/ reputable shops that do transmission swaps? My 97 Mountaineer V8 AWD is in need of a manual transmission. I'd like to keep the AWD, or go to 4WD, does not matter, whichever saves me more $.
Unfortunately, I cannot do the work myself because I lack the experience, nor do I have the space (student at MSU, home is half way around the continent).
If anyone has done a swap (I know Arnie is in Kalamazoo) in Michigan, and would like to attempt another swap, please also let me know.
My cherished 96 Explorer (2DR, V6, AWD, stick) was totalled two wks ago when someone decided to run a red light at downtown Lansing. Aside from the injuries and other inconveniences, it has been a frustrating experience trying to find a replacement vehicle that would provide as much as my Explorer did. Hope someone on the board can help, or point me in the right direction.
