Alright I need to find this out quick like! I'm doing the 2" torsion twist and the shackles......I'm going to get the 31's and I need to know if my transmission is going to mess up! My axle code is D1 which is 3.27 limited slip.....If anyone knows how this will affect my mpg and transmission let me know! By the way I have a 96' explorer 2wd.....

Mechanically you'll be fine (except you should calibrate the speedo).

However, you may feel like your truck has been castrated :(

I ran 31s and stock gears for a long time with no problems, other than the drop in gas mileage. Like Alec said, it will not be as quick as it is now, but its not horrible. Just not as good......:hammer:

Well I'm getting about 18 mpg right now city and I hardly drive on the highway...I was wondering if I was going to notice huge difference in Gas?

You'll probably use a bit more.

yeah alecs right. i use alot more gas but its worth it to me.

If you ever decide to regear, you will gain most of your gas mileage back. I regeared when I had 32s and got 6 mpg back.

What do you guys think I should re-gear to?

Are you planning on ever going bigger?

3.73s or 4.10s

GJarrett has 4.10's for sale right now. just a thought

How much is he selling them for?
