where can i find the trany model number need a rebuild kit it is a 1999 explorer rwd/4x4 4.0 over head valve think it might be a remaufacter can not find the numbers i need like 4r44e is it a 4 speed and does over drive count as the 5th speed ?

A 1999 4X4 has a 5R55E, it is consider a 5 speed with lockup torque converter. 5th speed is OD.

If the seller of the rebuild kit cannot tell you which transmission you have, find a different seller.
