Any one know of white face or indiglow-glow in the dark gauge kits for 91-94 explorer? The stock gauges are lame but purposefull; except for the dummy oil pressure gauge.
I was also thinking of scrapping the whole gauge cluster and making my own with all Autometers. Any ideas on how hard it would be to make after market gauges work in an explorer? I think that you could convert to mechanical gauges easily if electrics wouldn't work. I think that the tachometer would pose the most problems beacuse of the D.I.S. Has any one done or thought about this?

D, I am in the same boat. I want to totally replace the whole cluster with a custom plate and Autometer gauges. I have a cutout of the plate, but the smallest diameter gauges I can find are 2 1/4". The most I can fit with it looking right and without ditching the tach is 3. If the tach is relocated to another location all the gauges will fit nicely. I just don't know the specifics behind the sensors to change them out to mechanical gauges. Does anyone make a digital kit that might work or would this be way too much trouble?

Goober, is it possible to find a pillar post mount for gauges. I've thought about this whole topic as a distant project because I like the white face look, but I don't like the kit available for the 91-94's. I was stoked when it came out and was disappointed by the styling. Not to mention, with making my own gauge cluster, I believe for accessories, volts, temp, oil pressure, etc, they are more accurate.
My 2 cents
Pete

Would you consider digital gauges? If so, check with a company called Cyberdyne (724-258-8440), or Dakota Digital http://www.DakotaDigital.com . I've got an aftermarket parts catalog, and Cyberdyne's product looks a little better, but it doesn't give dimensions on the gauges.

speed glo

Id like the APC speed glo gauges for a 00 explorer. They glow blue or green. But I dont think anybody even makes the white face ones yet.
