Trouble code 0455

My wife didn't completely tighten gas cap, now I have a check engine light displayed on dash. I used the code reader to find 0455, now I've tightened the cap, but the dash warning won't reset with my cheapo code reader. I've considered disconnecting & reconnecting the battery, but would like a heads up from anyone who might know better.

Leave your battery terminal disconnected for a bit, it should reset the code..

If the light is still on after that, then you have a hard fault somewhere.
