hello and good day. got me an issue with my 92 explorer. doesnt start. Now ive discover that there was to much oil in it wich foiled the plugs so i drained the oil pulled the plugs. figured maybe now its the battery(as it was ld and out of my other explorer. switced it up just in time to fry the starter. ive checked the fuel lines battery cables spark plug lines. when i pulled the plugs there was two that had never fired ( no wonder the oil smelt a bit like gas) now im thinking it could be the coil pack or timing chain. any opinion is a good opion at this point. looking forward to your input

Air.
Fuel.
Spark.

Which of those are you missing?

I'll assume you're getting air to the engine, so that leaves no fuel or no spark as the cause. Easy way to check for spark is to pull the wires off the plug and stick a long screwdriver into the boot and then near a ground point and have someone crank the engine. Most parts places should have an in-line spark tool that goes in between the plug and the plug wire and will light up every time the plug is fired so that's another option.

As for fuel, on the passenger side of the fuel supply manifold is a valve, take the black plastic cap off (if it's still there) and push the center of the valve with something like a small screwdriver. If fuel sprays out, then you've got fuel at least that far into the system.

Now, does it crank but not start or does it even crank at this point?

it cranks just about right over. its getting fuel as far as i know the first issue with it was the fuel line. im going to get a new coil pack and c where that takes me 2 plugs are not fireing on one side so i want fix that issue first and hopefully that does it.

thank you kindly. ITS ALIVE. turned out there was about a litre of gas in the intake. no wonder eh. had to be something stupid. mind you i did need a coil pack the wires where cherry on top. now to tune it in

What caused the gas to build up in there?

Glad you got it fixed though!
