99 EB 4x4 with about 40K miles....

I don't remember having this issue before buying new tires, but since then the truck pulls to the left. It is even a bit worse when I brake.

I have had the tires rotated twice and switched from left to right, no change.

I have had the front end aligned 3 times, by 3 different shops, no change.

One alignment/tire shop said radial pull was the problem. I don't buy it as the truck pulls going less than 20 mph and even slower when I brake.

Any thoughts?

Thanks

Is the steering wheel straight? Could be a dragging brake if the pads don't retract enough. Could be the right side is froze and not applying at all. Be sure the lug nuts are properly torqued. Switch tires from front to rear. Could be a wheel bearing siezing up. Jack up the left side and spin the wheel by hand, listen and feel for any thing unusual.

Thanks

The steering wheel was dead center prior to the new tires and alignment. It is slightly off center now. How do I fix that and how would that affect the pulling?

Thanks

If moving the tires around doesn't change the steering wheel position or the pull then they are not a problem. You can't have that few miles on your truck unless it has sat a lot which means that draging brakes are a high likelyhood. Jack the truck up and check that all of the wheels turn freely (step on the brakes first in case they release but slowly) and I would recommend that you flush the brake fluid if it has not been done recently.

Thanks.

Brakes are brand new. This seemed to happen after the new tires were installed and the front end aligned.

?

I have since replaced both l & r upper control arms and lower ball joints as they all needed to be replaced. This was not related to the problem with the pulling. I had the front end aligned after this work was performed and still have the pull.

All thoughts welcome...thanks

If you noticed the problem after the tires were installed, and the problem didn't go away after 3 alignments by three different shops, why would you discount the problem being the tires? I would rotate the spare onto the vehicle and see if the problem still persists. I would start with the most likely and simplest before branching out into wheel bearings, brakes, etc. -- even though those are possibilities also.
