Trying to get 4x4 working 92 Ex.

Crazy it's not blowing the fuse though... ...

I'd disconnect the batt before pull'n up the carpet though. Why blow the fuse now?

YES VICTORY!! I found the wire was blown up (Bulged really bad) by the back of the drivers door! So I cut that part out and just stuck it back together and 4x4 is working!

One problem is when I'm in 4x4 the hubs will whine, (More of the drivers side) It's sounds like a truck with very meaty tires driving down the road, mine are not meaty at all though. It does not like turning sharp at all. (I know it's more made to get you out of a pinch rather than just driving but still not sure if these symptoms are normal)

Thank you guys so much though, for getting me in the right direction! I'm just happy to see it working for the most part! :D

Are you driving it on hard, dry pavement? If so, stop. Its is not good for a 4WD system to drive it on the pavement. If it rocks back and forth while turning on dry pavement, then its working normally. Too much traction can break stuff.

Nice!

On the noisy front end; you may want to pop the fill plug out of the diff just to be sure it's got gear oil.

It's an open diff so power will be on the left wheel until there is wheel spin, makes sense then that you hear it on the left.

It is normal while turning to feel power transfer from right to left back and forth.

The front end probably has not been turned in years, so it may be a bit sticky. (noisy)

x2 on the running on dry pavement! :nono:

Nice bit of trouble shooting.

Imagine what that would have cost for a shop to do!

Yeah man most shops are horrible! That's part of the reason I like fixing things by myself, and I just like learning how to do it so I know how to fix stuff and better diagnose things.

Okay so I know for the most part it's working normally then. I will check the diff fluid for sure though.

I know it's bad to drive on high traction areas in 4x4 with these. I just drove it down the street to make sure it was all working and what it would do. It took the motor about 5 tries before it would engage 4x4 and go into 4-Lo. Now it goes into them no problem. I'm guessing it just had to learn better where the motor was and what to do with it and loosen things up.

So yeah I guess that sums it up. Thank you very VERY much guys! I will do my best to try and help with things I know around the forums to pay it back. I like helping people anyways! I am one happy dude now! Have a great day guys!

:salute:
