I had the TT done by a local shop when getting the alignment which was about a mth ago & the cv's are already starting to click.

Can anyone take a measurement from a driveline component? Preferably on a non lifted truck. I dont have any measurements to go off of since I had a shop do it.

Im sure the cv's were on their way out the door anyhow, I just want to make sure the TB's arnt cranked up too high. Im thinking they maybe since the control ams extent all the way now if I go to fast over things like speedbumps, as in a nice clunk can be heard.

I had the clunk over speed humps with a torsion twist lift. It turned out to be my ball joints needing replacing.

Since there's so much difference in stock height, I think the best way is to check the cv angel ... stock should be level with the ground and max should not exceed 20-22 degrees ... so I've been told

Had the upper (including upper control arms)/lower ball joints replaced on both sides about 4 wks ago. 2wks ago had the wheel bearing replaced. Theres some bushings that need to be done yet in the front, dont remember which ones at the moment (@ work right now).

Im not good at measureing "angles". I need an actual measurement from somewhere on the drivetrain like i said. Id be happy with a ballpark #.

btw, is there any company that makes like a heavier duty cv's that would last longer?

hi all,
newbie to the site just gettin started on my 95' XLT. tried the TT today and no luck couldn't get the damn adjuster bolt to budge not 1 inch lol any help how to get that damn thing to turn would be great i used a regular mechanics socket wrench doubt it had enough torque though...thx for any replys.

the stock cv axle shaft is 23 inches long end to end if thats what u were looking for. as far as the "newbie" lol, try using a breaker bad to loosen it, make sure its jacked up enough, and remember wd-40 is ur best freind. good luck

How to measure stock height before TT? don't want to go over 2 inch

what should the stock height be on a 98 2 door? I want to do a TT but I'm not sure how high to go so I don't go over the 2 inch max or not sure if it already had some tweeking done to it before i bought it.
thanks

get your Fisher Price My First Ruler out of the closet and measure.

driver side lower then pass side after body lift

I just put on pa883 body and it looks great. Just one question I think I have some driver side rear sag about 1/2 inch would that make the front wheel wells uneven or just the back wheel wells because the pass side is about 3/4 to 1 inch higher then the driver side.

Thats how my truck sits i have 3'spindles,tt,aal,shackles and 3'body lift and my driver side rear sits about a inch lower. Most likey from the weight of the gas tank being on that side.

would that cause my front driver side not to be even with the pass front by about 3/4 inch

Mine is about a half inch off in the front driver side so i guesse so since yur in the same boat.

Could it mean that my torsion bars are not even or something? I haven't done a tt yet

Explorers have the gangsta lean on the drivers size because the battery and the gas take are on that side.

I remember reading another post about the lean the explorer's have, but I don't remember which one. The solution is to back off the torsion bolt on the passenger side until it is leveled out. Hope this helps.
