Ive been talking to some guys around town and no one supports the idea of the TT/shackles lift (goin for 2") on my 98 2WD 4dr. They say itll mess up the cv joints and its just "not smart". I want to do it b/c its relatively cheap, I'm just waiting til I need new tires. Also, what sz tires should I go with, 32s?

I'd go with 31s to be safe. Also, tell your friends its hard to mess up your CVs when you don't have any! :D

Just don't go over 2 inches you'll be alright with everything under there. Digger has 32's on his Ex after a TT/Shackles, I think he might have had to trim a bit though...

they are full of it... the only problems you may encounter is alinment problems, BUT any COMPETANT alignment place can deal with it... even if an aftermarket caster camber adjusters are needed......

Yeah, you could max out the T bars on your truck and do no damage except running the risk of overstressing the T Bar.

thanks for your help guys, its good to know who to trust,... peace

well that and alignment problems.... but alignment can be fixed by competant people unless it is really off {i do alignments at my work, it can be done}

if you max out the t bars, which someone on this site has done and gotten like 5 inches of lift, you run the chance of breaking other parts. i was looking for the thread on that, but i cant find it right now. i dont know why they said you could mess up your cv's, since 2wds dont have any...

hah i live in ventura too. at first i thought you were the owner of that green 1st gen lifted x that ive seen all over the place.

i did tt/shackles on my 97 5.0, the wheels were off camber in the first place wearing on the inside of the tire.. but its doesnt wear anymore after the tt/shackles and the tires are nice and straight. the rides a little stiffer but still a good ride... id recomend it!!
