you talkin about the joints between the knuckles and the diff on both sides?
you will either need a BFH or use a ball/U joint press.
they are about 30 bucks at harbor freight, or autozone has a rent-a-tool deal
just the joints thanks guys it seems I get Quicker and better info here rather than other sites I go on I may have to find a explorer body to toss on the 80 bronco frame.
do you think in could be replaced under the truck?
mmmm.... I think could be done...
But I would just take the diffy off. You couldn't get the press back in there. And you would have to use a BFH to knock them out. But then you could run the risk of damaging your diff seal and spindle seals.
It would be more time worthy to just pull the diff.
But you will prob also have to pull the hubs and knuckles apart to even get the spindle stubs out.
There is a thread around here that shows you how to take the hubs apart down to the knuckle if you are unsure.
Best of luck to ya
Well not zactly true. Clint(my son) used the BFH with the vice to remove/install the joints in the shafts and my web site is no more. One of the things I cut back on.
But Chad(Flip) had the c-clip delete (spring in the inner axle tube) in his X so we even if we were going to the inner along with the broken outer we wouldn't have had to remove the front third member.
I sent you an e-mail. Chad had to cut the head off his ABS retaining block. Not sure about the 44 but the 35 has a vertical bolt that I just cut to remove the third member the first time. Then use a new bolt when it goes back together.
