Could someone tell me how to shut off that blasted door buzzer(when key is in)this thing drives me nuts. I have to have the drivers door open a lot and that darn buzzer is killing me.

Thanks for any help on this.

The BDB (blasted door buzzer) is operated by an input to the instrument cluster module. You can disconnect the door switch on the door lock but that will also disable your dome light when opening the door. You COULD place a switch in the door switch circuit to disable it on demand.

Front door latch.
1) Door ajar switch electrical connector.
2) Ground wire.

In older Fords there was a connector inside the steering column that ground with the key inserted in the switch. I used to disconnect this and that took care of the buzzer but left everything else intact. Don't know if this will work on the Sport trac or not but worth checking.

That is the case with the Trac also. That would be the easiest to do provided it doesn't affect anything else. Can't say for sure it would work without causing other problems so I recommended the door switch method. He could always unplug it and try it though.

I done it with all my Ford's but the latest one I've owned was a '94 Ranger 4X4 and it's never caused any issues. I don't have a Trac yet but am looking for one cheap that I can mod (engine swap, suspension etc). I'd like to have some sort of sleeper as my other project is about as inconspicuous as a dead body in a parking lot.

Also would like something I could drive everyday.

Aw you make me sick!!! :D i'd give my right ....... you know ....... for one of those. There's about 5 or 6 of those around here ............ love to have one!

I do have a casual friend with a REAL 66 427 w/5000 +/- miles on it.:p::p: Can't even drive a real one though. What are you running in yours? I have a real low mileage 5.0L HO now I just need the Cobra!!

That's the engine I want to put in the Trac. Ironically that's what I have in there too.
I'm running a 5.0 from a '91 GT with upgraded cam and polished Cobra intake. I woul dprobably pull all of the EFI stuff from it to install in the Sport Trac and go with a dual quad setup on the Cobra.

If you're really interested you can find deals on unfinished kits out there. You have the engine, the trans and rear axle would be easy to find.

Oh I have the trans, an AOD, and already had the 9" 3.70 in my 68 Ranchero but it had to go to cover some medical bills.
The 5.0L HO is in a '91'Bird if you run into anyone needing it. Has 75K miles on it and runs great! Bring a trailer and take it all for $650.

Sorry for the hijacked thread! :( :D
