I tried a new product yesterday after thoroughly washing my beast. It's a Turtle Wax product called "Color Back". It's a finish restorer & polish. I guess it removes oxidized paint or something. Anyway, it was easy to apply and looks great!

I use the red color on my Mustang, and although it does bring the color back, it doesn't seem to last very long. My paint is probably too faded but I'm trying to postpone a paintjob.

I have tried it too. It will come off after about 2 washes.

Funny how different folks have different definations of "it works"; mine means that you use it and it fixed. Oh well....

What about using it to bring the color back and then "sealing" it with a good wax?

I was looking at it the other day and thought I'd check here first to see what people had to say and hey- perfect timing!

Okay, according to most of these posts, it brings some color back but doesn't last. How does it do with small scratches? I have a red X and it has a bunch of shallow scratches that bug the heck outta me when the light is just right (or wrong...) I don't have a lot of time to go over it and fix every single one and if there's a product out there that can make it look 'close enough for government work', I'd be a happy guy!

I used it for that exact purpose and the scratches came back after a wash or two. It's just s wax, it rubs off. All I'm saying is it is short term.

the color back worked great on my black 92 explorer.
but... like all the polishes i have tried so far, the shine barely makes it a week. i'm really leaning toward purchasing zaino (probably would've already if they acccepted credit cards), but i dont think anything short of a new paint job will help me.

Its amazing that it is made difficukt to purchase something these days....

I wonder how many sales they lose with this practice?

um did anyone happen to read the back of the thing? it says on mine at least. after using on the car, apply wax as soon as possible or something. i guess to seal it in...

I really don't think it would work, unless on an older vehicle, since most if not all newer vehicles have clear coats. This stuff can't penetrate the clear coat, so if it does put down any color it's got to be sitting on top.

actually, I had a bit of discoloration on my door from water dripping down. i washed and waxed it for a few months and it wouldnt come off. Then one day I put some serious elbow grease + that polish on the door, and its gone... Its a good wax too though.

I usually use that stuff once a month with a wax every two weeks. A base coat of that polish + a waxing makes the truck shine like new

I use the red stuff on my Ex. It is great at hiding all the trail pinstriping, you just have to redo it every month.
