I have a 2001 Ford Explorer Sport that has developed two problems:

1. Whenever the car hits a bump, the vehicle moves to the right or to the left more than it used to.

2. Frequently, when turning, the back end of the truck feels like it is moving or fishtailing - almost like it has a trailer connected to it and I feel the trailer move.

Any ideas on either of these issues?

Sway-bar bushings and end links and/or ball-joints, also bad shocks could cause this

What tires do you have, and how worn are they?

When I had Goodyear Wrangler RT/S, I noticed the side to side movement alot.

I'd have to go with what fixxxer said. Go check if your sway bar bushings are worn, snapped. Give the suspension a couple bounces to see if any side is weaker than the others. About ball joints, well, idk the test for that.

side to side movement

I had the same problems on my 95 Sport that you described. Fixed with new shocks and solid (Addco) front and rear anti-sway bars. The stock ones were hollow tubes.
