Tyre / Tire Pressure Monitor Malfunction

I tried through the dealer and got a similar insane markup. I thought it would include installation and balancing the tires at that price. It did not so I purchased mine online for a lot less.

Ya, I had a low tire, and I was simple warn to check tire and read out (screen) shown 28pis on my rear passager, and guess what, found a screw in it...
Also don't have TPMS in my winter wheels and it just complain about not finding them.
So not sure regarding the Malfunction...
To reset, this should work:
  1. Push start button to tun on car, no brake pedal
  2. 3 time the hazard light
  3. Car will hunk (confirm the training mode)
  4. Deflate tire until car hunk again, meaning learning done.
  5. Repeat 5 for all 4 ti/yres.
  6. Refill air!
Guy started with front driver, not sure it changes anything.

I tried this but no success...

I paid $342 for a set in 2016 through the dealer. I noticed the ones shown in the CariD picture are 433 MHz. I checked the features printout of my 2017 Platinum and it shows Tyre Pressure Sensors 315 MHz. I can't be sure but I think I recall someone saying that 433 MHz was used on export Explorers. Maybe someone can verify this.

Peter can you please explain where I am likely to find this info. I want to be sure before I commit to buy as I want an OEM part instead of after market.

....... Get the reset tool or donut magnet tool while you are at it in order to set the units.

Several members have posted that the vehicle will learn the TPMS locations after driving a bit. They said no programming tool was required. In any case, I have the techs program mine every time I swap Winter/All Season wheels. Not sure what Amazon would charge to ship to Angola?

Driving for 20-30 miles corrects a low pressure warning after your have put air back in the tire. It does not work for lack of TPMS in your rims.

According to the posts, it will also recognize and program the location of the 4 sensors. But yes, you must have the sensors installed.

On my 2016 driving to reset the sensors to a new location does not work. You either need the tool or do the letting air out trick.

Funny thing is that I just had my 16 in for a recall last week, I also have a problem with one of the tire sensors. The service manager told me that the sensor was fine and that I just needed to drive a few miles to get it reset this was after they checked it out. Well, I still have the problem after 100+ miles. Sensor reads 5-8psi lower than what the tire is. This is not good on cold mornings when it sets off the alarm.
