AT2s are a good tyre for all terrain work and are very good in the rough. However, we have found them noisey on road and wet weather handling is poor. We want to keep the AT2s for when the going gets tough, but want a set of tyres that perform well on the road including on wet roads for day to day use. So what are the options? I would like to hear from anyone who has experience and can recommend some good raod based tyres for our Explorer. Tyre size is 255 70 R16s all round.

Thanks for taking the time to read this.

Good tyres

Hi Bigfoot,
TOYO H/T OPEN COUNTRY
255/70 R 16 111H

These are the tyres I have fitted. They cost £90 each.
Very pleased with them. They have raised white lettering on one side so you can choose to have them showing or not.

Grip on the road is very good and my tyre depot said they hold the land speed record for a 4x4 tyre.
Kev.

hold land speed of 111mph?

Why do you say 111mph?
The 111 means 1090 kg.
