Well right now I feel like :banghead:
Shift motor is shot,
Hubs are shot,
My valve cover is leaking,
My lugs on my rims are STUCK on, impact gun can't get them, neither could a breaker bar!,
My e-brake is shot,
These aren't that serious but the small things keep building up, but now I have a new problem and I don't know what's going on. Lately i've noticed that when I start my truck it has been idling at about 1100 RPM, until I put the truck into gear and then the truck "jolts" or clunks into gear and the rpms drop down to normal idling speed. When I noticed the clunk happening I put it back between park and drive a few times to see it happening and then i tried that with all the other gears, it does the same accept for neutral. After shifting it a few times the truck stalled on me, then I couldn't get it to start again. After leaving it for a few minutes I tried starting it again, It cranked over for a little bit and then it finally started again. The transmission was only rebuilt a couple years ago and not many kilometers have been put on it since the rebuild, is this the transmission or is it something else? Please help me!

Search. The answer is out there.

Try and pull codes if you haven't done that.
Start cleaning/replacing sensors as necessary.
Search Explorer Forum and read up on the "clunk" and high idle issues other people have had.

Enjoy.

I have a clunk when I put it i gear sometimes. It's a u-joint.

Oh ok thanks, I kinda figured that's what it might be but i wasn't sure, I'll go and wiggle it around today and see if i can movie it by hand, thanks.

shift motor is a eazy replacement if it cant be rebuilt.
you can find used hubs at the wreckers cheap. look around you might find a used set forsale or even a manual set. also i know there was a tread on the go about rebuilding you stock auto hubs.
get yourself a top end gasket set an replace the worn out an dried up gaskets can be done in a afternoon, an the truck probley run much better.
try a propane torch to heat up your lugs an cool them off with some water. it will take a few times to cycle the heat to help break lose the rust. it will come just takes time.
check your tranny mount an motor mounts also for a clunk as im sure the rubber is worn now along with all your u joints.
e-brakes cable are cheap replacements also.
also stat dealing with a jobber for your parts an youll find it wont cost as bad as crappy tire.

Ok I know ur up there in canada, but if at all it's in you're budget go here http://geo.craigslist.org/iso/ca pick the nearest city and find a cheap parts truck. I see them in my area all day long for around 500$ us. I see them in texas for 300$ with 0 rust. Keep the explorer alive!!
