Ugh need help again...

Stupid Problem...Desperate for help

Ok so I have a 96' explorer 4x4 4.0 L 3" BL 31" BF A/T. But the problem im having is a problem before I put on the body lift and tires. It happends now and when it was stock. The problem is say when i get on the highway and drive at "high speeds" (usually 60-70mph) for extended periods of time (20 miles or so) the O/D light starts flashing. Then when I slow to lower speeds when i get off the highway it downshift and upshifts hard. Then once I turn the X off for a few hours, it will start up and the O/D light wont be on and it will shift fine....Please help, this has to be a specific issue with something I think...

The O/D light flashing means a trouble code in the tranny. Best bet is to read the codes and find out what they say. Even if the O/D light stop flashing the codes should be saved for a while.

thanks for the info guys, does anybody have an idea what the problem might be by just the description i gave? I mean just before i go get it checked out...

These trannys have a load of electrical sensors and gadgets. If any sensor is off and the computer recognizes it it will give you a code. Since you are not seeing a symptom, it's virtually impossible to pinpoint. and even if there was a symptom it could be a combination of things causing it. Check with your local parts store, they might do a scan for free.

why thank you...any more suggestions?...anybody know why it would only do this at high speeds for longer periods of time??
