I was getting my explorer the today, and when I turned it on, my 4x4 was on. So I was like, huh, thats wierd, and turned it off. But it didn't disengage!! I stopped, put it in park, turned it back on, and then drove about 20 feet, stopped again, and turned it off. This time it worked. Is this anything to be worried about? It is push button, so might that need to be replaced?

Check all the Connections. At the 4x4 button and at the Tcase.

Same thing happened to me except it was entirely my fault. I was installing an aftermarket shifter boot after my 2" body lift(I didn't want to cut the tranny tunnel) and...umm, please don't laugh at me...as I was screwing the Boot plate down I went thru the tunnel and into the wire bundle. That grounded the 4x4 in the engaged position. When I tried to go I noticed the stuck in 4x4 problem. 15min and 100 "stupid a$$" es later I was good to go.

Don't worry..I'm not gonna laugh! I have done many a stupid thing too! You are gonna have to help me out on the whole t case thing....I have no idea what that is. The farthest that I have gotten into mine is changing the starter, the power steering pump, and of course the oil.

You said that you had a body lift, too? Did you put it on yourself? I have one thats supposed to come in tomorrow or the next day, and I want to put it on myself. How difficult is it?

Thanx a lot!!
