Explorers aren't usually rated for their 0-60 just due to their weight, what's your 1/4 mile time?

iv neva done 1/4 time

iv neva done 1/4 time

Your 1/4 mile time was the most important # back when I was into going fast. I never really paid to much attention to 0-60 back then because you could have a great 0-60 car that was a dog on the 1/4 mile due to gearing etc.

There might be other ppl around who are familiar with the 0-60 times.

i understand what you mean, just wanted to know if someone had the average time for the above spec but at factory modifaction.

I see what your looking for, I wouldn't mind seeing those numbers myself.

i had a look on the spec page, it states the spec of 0-60 at 8.5secs, i cant see how that possible

Holy Christ! 10.31 must feel like a rocket! I can quite confidently spout off on this one - 8.5? Not a hope in hell! I just swapped from a 2.5 V6 24 valve Mitsubishi that did just that and in comparison the Explorer feels like a tank!

The Mitsi had 161bhp and weighed in at a little over half the Explorer's weight so if you're getting 10.31, you're steaming!!

I love mine to bits but the culture shock fom the Mitusbishi missile (which happily changed DOWN at 120mph!) to this thing trundling along at 65mph takes some adjustment.

Still, at least my licence is safe now!

I have heard 8.0 seconds for 0-60. I dont know though. I switched from a 97 f150 with 4.6 in it to my 98 sport with sohc and 4.10 gears and she really seems to get up and go. I know its not a rocket but it sure is the fastest vehicle i have owned.

my 03 4.0 SOHC is running 0-60 in 9 seconds with K&N intake. I have no clue on 1/4 or 1/8th ET.

Before I went to larger tires I would say I was around 8.5 seconds, maybe 9 tops, to get to 60. Thats with an intake, exhaust, and tune. And 4.10s.

The last time i was on a stirp i managed 8.43sec 0-60 and that was completely stock.
It really depends on the condition of your engine as my other explorer does a 9.6sec 0-60

I've never actually run mine in a 0-60, but I know it's way faster than 10 seconds. I want to blame the weight of the X Sport (3800 lbs). The 3.73 axle gears probably don't hurt much either.

I'll try to do a test run today and let you know.

My '01 X Sport, while bone stock with a 200k miles SOHC, was running about 9.8 or 9.9, I've done a custom K&N intake (I've changed nothing else) and its down to 9.2. The 2001 Sport Trac was rated at 10.0. The axle gearing will make a big difference though, if anyone noticed every person here listing under 9 is on the 4.10 axle ratio (I'm 3.73).

You could probably get more like 5 seconds to 60 if you were in low range... :D There is a post about doing a 2 wheel low mod somewhere in these forums. Its too bad you won't make it past 60 in low though... :(
