Anyone for a 6 way seat combat story?
97 Driver side - 6 way power seat:
front tilts up and down
back tilts up and down
center height goes up but NOT down( just a little moan)
Gotta be the switch?
It was easy to find (only cause I have the H^&m manuals which I thought were expensive but not anymore.)
Walked through pin by pin steps on what should and should not have resistance with meter. I did find the "bad pin" on the switch. I could have never guessed what should be what, my alternative: just chance buy a new switch and win this time.
New 6way switch $39 from FORD
I lucked out, if the switch wasn't bad, they take you from connector to connector and that is where there are downstream sensors or "some other" circuits you would never expect, eg the seat postion memory mod and so on. I don't know how else to do it but with the manual details?
Even with those manuals you have to be careful. I first used the pictures for pin position. Wasn't working right. I found out you must check the text description to match COLORS of wires which may not corresspond to the picture. ??maybe for other switches type or just poor artists??
But if you ever want to tear your hands and fingers aparts, try to get at the connector from the seat harness to the 6 way switch... absolutely no slack in those wires... even with all the other harness wires unfastened. Nothing but sharp edges under the seat.
It took me FOREVER to get it apart .
That was the bloody part... consumed many bandaids and employed many explitives.
Works great now and I'm happy
