Here is my problem... monday i was driving the x on the highway and noticed a "whirring" coming from the drivers side front wheel. I visually inspected and found nothing and then assumed it was my bearings. I replaced the entire hub assembly and still have the same noise. I then thought it could be a bad tire...after balancing and rotation I still have the exact same noise. It does not change in pitch but it does get louder the faster you drive and really noticable when you slow down. I thought maybe a CV joint but I have no problems with my steering. Any and all suggestions are welcome. PLEASE SEND ME SOME WISDOM!!!!!!

That's odd. I have a whirring noise but it is not noticeable at high speeds, only under 20 mph. I know I have to replace my seals.:(

Does your vehicle have AWD? I have heard something about that system makes noise up front like that.

Make sure the caliper's not sticking. Jack the truck up and try to turn the wheel by hand. Apply the brakes, then try to spin it again and see what you find.

I have what they call control track, it sends power to another wheel when one of the others slips. I had a transmission shop(very reliable & trustworthy) drive and inspect it but they don't have any ideas. They suggested that I raise the truck on jack stands and put it in gear to locate the problem...sounds dangerous to me. I am stummped???!!?!?!

I don't like running the truck when on jackstands, but how about running the truck when it's on a professional shop lift?

Well, it looks like the problem was a pinion bearing in my transfer case. Thanks for all your input.
