unintended acceleration 07 ST 4.0

Driving in 4X4 high on snow covered road at about 15mph. Engine began to accelerate and continued with foot off the gas pedal and firmly on the brake pedal. Shifted to park and turned off ignition. Restarted, idled and accelerated normally for a few minutes then happened twice more. Returned home and sat for about 10 minutes shifting between park and drive and 4X4 high and auto without problem. Check engine lamp was off and no OBD codes were present.
Any thoughts would be appreciated.

I had a Firebird that tried to pull me into traffic on the way to the dealership. Then once I was in the service bay I put the car in park and the idle shot up. The tech sprayed some lube on the throttle control cable and snapped it a few times. We went for a test drive and all was fine and it never happened again, but boy was that scary!

These are fly by wire, no throttle wire to adjust. Wonder if ford used the same throttle control system toyota had between 2009 and 2011?

Check the floor mat to see if it's under the throttle pedal.
