I entered a thread about a month or so ago which was titled "Desperately Seeking Advice." I figured since so many people read it and offered advice that I should let you all know what type of sub I installed in my 1995 Explorer Sport. Since I was looking for loudness and clarity with the potential for some extreme bass, I had a very hard time choosing what I should get. I am posting this thread in order to help others who may be confused as well. I know from personal experience that many may feel hesitant about putting a system in their car because it is a large investment and you want it to sound right. Well here it is:

Pioneer 4100 Head unit
MTX 152 Amplifier
10" MTX 6000 Series Subwoofer

At first I was very displeased until I made a few adjustments. Today It sounds great in my car after adjusting the equalizer on my head unit. I hope that this may help out some hesitant Explorer enthusiasts. I know that some may say "this is not very powerful," but trust me I love it and it sounds great.

is the sub broken in yet? it is recommended that you play it at low volume for about 2 hours. anyway, im glad that you're happy with your new system, enjoy yourself.

I would definitely have to say that I have broken in my new toy. I am constantly in the car going back and forth to college, parties, the beach, etc. You know how teenagers are...they always have to be doing something at every moment in the day. Well, I am loving the system and it has defintitely been worth the money. I recommend that everyone enhances the sound quality in their vehicle because it is "key."

Rydogg what's up man. Yeaaah Rockville. I work at Timpano's on Rockville pike right near the Barnes and Nobles and Old Navy. I live out in Silver Spring. It's good to see some people from the area on this board.

Congratulations on your system! It's always better when it's done right the first time, isn't it? Less costly too.

MRSTEVE that is hillarious. I honestly thought that I was the only one from this town. You are a pro on this website. I have read alot of your posts as well as your replies so it is good to know that you are in the same area. Have you heard of many people that live in this area? To be totally honest I hardly ever see any "suped up" Explorers' around. Take care and hopefully I will talk to you soon...

Yeah, it's sorta cool when everyone is on at the same time. More like a real discussion. I was practically having a full blown conversation with jimabena and Truckinat14 yesterday, and bigbird4x4 today along with you guys. I guess we're all coming back from work or school.

Rydogg there are a few people on this board from the Montgomery County area. Stephen lives in Potomac and I know some one else lives in Annapolis, and someone else in Ellicot City.

I've seen a few suped up Explorers around here. The most recent one I saw was yesterday on Tuckerman Lane. It looked like a 97+ Eddie Bauer with a brush guard, fully tinted, and 20" rims!! It was nice.
