We have a Sport and I think it would look better with a color matched rear trim and door handles. I agree that what makes a Sport a Sport is the HP not some stupid trim. Also remember that an Explorer is a soccer mom mobile, my wife is the primary driver of ours. Cooler then a mini van, but its no Grand Cherokee SRT8!

I will never understand why someone wants to bash on someone for making there explorer look like another one. Me I like the sport but didnt like the price tag. I think it looks great . I dont know about you guys but the price between my base model and the next model up is a lil over 10 grand and for what some wheels and stereo and heated seats . Sorry another 10grand for that doesnt come close to what you can mod for that amount of money.

If you think you can make a Sport clone with your Explorer for less than 10 grand, kudos to you.

This makes me think of all the base model Lancers I've seen that dress up their cars like Evos...and they go around thinking that they saved themselves 10,000 and they could make their cars look like mine.

IMHO, I think "Explorer sport" tried to copy the aesthetic mods of my XLT! lol!

I blackened my grills and placed the explorer letters (painted black) which Ive seen in SEMA, blackened my chrome rear strip because I don't like chrome trims and I did all this before Ive even seen how the sport will look like!

Seriously, I have been doing black grills and blackening any chrome trimmings from my other older cars and I did all this to my XLT because I like it that way and not because Im trying to make mine look like a sport. I guess Ford thought that ours look great and wanted to copy it, and so it wont be very obvious, they installed better engines and suspensions!

Once again, this is only my personal opinion thrown out there! What do you guys think?

Keep on helping out others on how you do your mods CHULO. Ignore the negative side comments of others coz there are a lot out there who does not have better things to do than to bash on others work. Hahaha! Peace out!

thank you. i thought this was more of a friendly forum. i offered my services to help anyone out before and these guys just seem to "bash". and like i said before, the sport was not available in august when i got my '13 or else that could have been an option. at least now i get to do everything pretty much for free except i paid $80 for the hood emblem.

I love it. When we bought our XLT IN MARCH OF 2011, I already had my 2011 Edge Sport for a few months. When they were parked next to each other in our driveway I already began scheming how I could create an Explorer Sport. I wanted to paint our grill tuxedo black like my Sport, and have the rockers prepped and painted to match. When I saw the SEMA explorer with the lettering across the hood ala Range Rover, I immediately liked th look. I guess Ford liked it as well, because they took it up. So...is it modeling off of of a concept car or a concept that became reality in the Sport model? Either way, there's no denying that the blacked out grill looks great.

Maybe I miss worded my post but I wasn't saying I could make my base a sport I was saying the next model up from a base I could make alot more mods then the options they offer for the price.I know you cant turn a base into a sport for 10 grand thats silly. I dont care about heated seats and such so that I didnt want so for 10 grand I can have a really nice looking base with decent stereo and wheels and some other things for alot cheaper than stepping it up to the NEXT MODEL ABOVE A BASE .

Car Looks great man! Where did you get the hood logos? Ebay? I would love to re do my handles and trim and actually paint them matte black, but in order to do it right Id want to remove all the parts and I just dont have the time...maybe soon. Im having my body guy do my tail lights next week!

thanks man... i actually ordered the emblems off ford... took them 2 weeks to get. im the manager at a shop so that was my way and cheapest.
