So My melted 02 sensor harness was the culprit blowing my underhood #13 fuse and not allowing the transmission to, well...work.

Not that I'm back on the road I'm noticing a louder whine (I had a slight whine before, for probably the last 30K miles) that's worse than it was before this mishap.

It sounds like an "electronic" whine that gets louder with RPM change. Does it in all gears regardless of gear (neutral, for instance) so I know its not the torque converter.

Tranny pump whine maybe? Oh, id does it worse after it's warmed up. I was told that a pump whine is worse when it's cold?

I've seen some vehicles with this whine, and it didn't make a difference which gear it was in. It was usually the torque converter. Pump gears grind, and sometimes make it feel like it's dropping in & out of neutral right before they totally crash. In this case, it's usually missing a tooth or two.

Brooklyn, so are you saying that the pump and converter took a crap at the same time? I'm actually not too concerned...I'm doing my rear main seal soon and these will obviously both be easily accessible then.

I have had a slight shudder dropping into OD at low speeds, around 40 MPH, even after the central valve bodies rebuild which I recommend to everyone.

Do you have a link to purchase a converter/pump for the 5r55e? You've been a big help. Anthony

Oh...just a thought...the torque converter is "disconnected" in neutral, right?

Brooklyn, wouldn't a line pressure test confirm if the pump was failing? Although with the new valve body/EPC and higher pressures because of donnie's rebuild I'm wondering if I would get "false" or misleading readings?

Connect the gauge to both the main port, and the EPC pressure port. You could try a local torque converter rebuilder since anything online would require 2 way freight charges. They need your old torque converter for a core. BTW, which vehicle is this on?

This is on my '99 Ranger 4.0 5R55E, 93,000 miles.

The KD Tools 0-300 PSI pressure tester KD3343 is good: http://www.eppys.com/ProductHighlight.aspx?ProductID=490
