Both of my stock fog lights on my explorer have been giving me problems and I am dang near close to just cutting them off!

Is it Legal to replace the stock fog lights with High performance off-road lights? If I were to use them only when I was off-road and not on the highway?

Is it a good idea to do that? Like would having the offroad lights where the fog lights are supposed to be benefit me driving in harsh conditions?

has anyone done this before? (im pretty sure lol)

thanks for any advice

I say go for it. Just use them offroad like you said, or in really really bad blizzards. They should light things up quite nicely.

i have to 130W kc hilights i turn them on all the time on or offroad just be smart about it and dont do it near cops. my lights are illegal on road becuase they are too bright. they'll say off road ONLY right on the box most of the time.

What kind of problems are the stock lights causing? Switching from fog/oem to offroad lights is not an equal exchange. Find out what's wrong with the stocks, and then add the bulbs that increase light, but decrease wattage - I forget exactly what they are called. These guys know ^^

Most lights do say "offroad only" In fact even my $20 replacement fogs said it on the box. Check your state laws. In New York, anything below your headlights is legal. Check my cardomain (see bottom for link) to see how I took advantage of that  !

I would say treat your off-road lights like they were high beams. When some one is coming toward you turn them off and switch from high to low beam. Thats what I do.

Hey thanks for the help guys:)
