Has anyone changed the upper ball joints/control arms (they come as a unit) on a 95 Explorer EB 4WD ??
I have bought both sides (from NAPA) and already changed the left side which was a one piece unit.
The original on the right side is a 2 piece control arm (as the manual shows)
that has what looks like a caster adjustment on it.
The new one for the right side is all one piece without the adjustment.
Should the replacement be a 1 or 2 piece unit ?
Any help appreciated !!
Don

If i remember correctly, it should be one piece, just like a wish bone and the adjustment takes place up around the bushing? I replace mine, but that was years ago and i do remember it being one piece, but i don't remember exactly how the adjustment was.

Josh,
Do you remember if the original one for the right side was a 2 piece
wishbone ...... with an adjustment bolt for what looks like adjusting the caster? It looks like the new 1 piece (without adjuster) will fit OK but
I'm just concerned that the have given me the right replacement part .
Thanks
Don

I got mine from Napa, and the passenger side was 2 piece just like stock. Is it possible they gave you 2 driver's side arms?

Strange ... the one piece unit has RH cast into it.
In another fourm a buddy says that his replacement right side was a 1 piece which he installed and had alligned and everything worked out OK.
Now I'm confused. going to call NAPA & ask.

my replacement was a MOOG and was 2 pieces as well..
well, the replacement was just 1 of the 2 pieces, but you know what i mean.

:) Looks like NAPA screwed up with part #'s.
The correct one for the right side is a 2 piece arm as some of you mentioned.
All you need is the outer piece to do the ball joint.
Took back the wrong 1 piece unit, picked up the proper
part ............. installed it yesterday.
Next stop >>> allignment shop.
Thanks guys
