Hey guys. Its time to change my oil, but when i pulled the lever to pop the hood, i got nothin. I've searched the forum to find potential solutions, but after trying using a small screwdriver to manipulate the manual release, i'm just coming up with frustration. I've given a liberal dose of wd40 and am letting that soak in in the meantime. Does anyone have any advice to help me with this, possibly with pictures? Thank you

Get a 2nd person to push down and pull up on the hood while you are pulling the lever. Sometimes this will work.

Had the same problem, I had to work my fingers between the hood and the grill and give it a good yank and it popped up so I could get to the release lever. Not sure why. It still sticks some. Is there some place I'm supposed to lube the latch and release?

Put some grease on the "hook" and also the latch or bar part of the latch

hood latch

mine just did that also i took a pair of plyers and went to the hod latch inside and unhooked the cable from the handle and pulled the cable by hand with the plyers and it opened i think my cable got longer over time

I did the same thing as msscran on my son's Ex... I used a pair of needle-nosed vice grips to pull the cable in the cabin and the hood did pop. The cable didn't stretch out but was sticking in the jacket. Once we got the hood open, we lubed the cable as best we could and it's been working now for about 18 months.
