URGENT: code 307- cylinder 7 misfiring!

Two nights ago i noticed that when at a stop, that my truck literally shakes. Then i noticed that it also shook just as badly through most speeds.

Yes, my CEL is on, but has been for a very long time. To add, the CEL is now flashing. There is a slight loss in power. I had my spark plugs and wires changed not but 15k ago.

Truck is internally stock except for: drop in K&N, as well as chopping off two of four cats (which was a while back) w/ aftermarket exhaust.

CEL code has read from Autozone 401: "insufficient gas recurculation". I have done nothing about this and has read this for over a year. EDIT : i recently went and had codes checked again, and came up 307. Which means cylinder 7 is misfiring. What the heck should i check or clean now???

It is urgent because as of right now the truck is sitting at the parentals house and i live about 25 minutes from there, so i have to find rides everywhere.

How is your gas mileage?

Just a shot in the dark, but maybe your egr valve is plugged solid? This allows the blowby from your engine to escape from the crankcase. With these new eloctronics it is real hard to diagnose anything these days. Another easy check would be the mass air sensor. I have seen a few threads here on cleaning this with great results.

Gas mileage- has been normal

Well i replaced my egr about 40k ago. Time for a new one? Or do you think it's just clogged?

I've read up on the mas. I pretty much know how to clean that. So tell me, should i have firestone charge me 90 bucks just to tell me what's wrong? Is that the best bet?

Fortunately i work about 150 yards from where i live so i don't need to be able to drive really.

But much help would greatly be appreciated...Thanks in advance

itll be aight

my 94 did the same thing all i did was unplug the mas and it stopped tha was about 12000 miles ago i havnt had ne probs except it idles ai like 900 rpms now up from 5 or 600 and now that its cold i have to let it warm up 5 to 10 min so untill u get it fixed that should work

But will it be the same w/ different engines?

Will you please change the title of the thread from "urgent: very rough idle-afraid to drive!" to "Urgent: code 307- cylinder 7 misfiring!" please.

Then delete this post. Please and thank you.

i would pull the #7 spark plug and check it out if that checks out okay i would try some sea foam and then look into the egr prolblem

hummmm

idk if it will work on diff. engines but something that simple is worth a try
