Using Key Fobs on a 1995 Explorer XLT

I have a 1995 Explorer XLT that I want to use Key Fobs on. I bought a set of remotes on eBay and tried cycling the ignition lock to put it into programming mode. That didn't work, so I read into it and I tried shorting the two wire gray plug under the dash, which also did not work.

I'm left assuming that I don't actually have a keyless entry module.

Is there existing wiring that would make this plug and play? If not, is it even possible to use this? I really want to be able to use remotes on my explorer.

Which remote fobs did you buy? Our old '96 used different (and more expensive) remote fobs than our 2000's and 2001's used. Can you post an eBay link to the fobs you bought? The '96 fobs were more square. less rounded than the later model fobs. Your '95 may or may not be capable of remote entry. If your truck will allow the use of remote fobs I'm sure that they would be like the one the '96 used.

BTW, My local CL had a set of 2 early fobs posted for $15. I'll see of they're still for sale a post the link so you can at least see what they look like.

Here's the link. Note the "LOCK" "UNLOCK" on the buttons. These say they're for a '97, but they look the same as the ones our '96 used.

If you bought remotes that look like these below, they will not work on the older Ex's.
