This may have been asked before but I feel it comes down to being more car specific. Im at 158k miles on my 96 X with a 4.0 and was previously driven in the low RPMs religiously, I wasnt much better. From what Ive heard this can make build up in the engine? Well I have converted it to a a dual exhaust with no cats, K/N intake and filter but only get 14 city and 21 highway still. When I did a fuel system cleaning I went from 11 to 14 and havent really budged off that. I really wonder if I havent seen any further improvement because of possible build up in the engine. New headers are next on my list to install but I feel it should still be running better than this. Are those products really worth trying out?

14/21 is GREAT depending on how much of your city driving is idling. If using E10/15 or E85 your fuel mileage rocks.

Opinions here vary greatly with "tune ups in cans" and cleaners. IMO, keep ALL fluids clean and don't touch it. YMMV ;)

I just was thinking because of the boost from the other cleaning and lack of much form the rest that it may be beneficial.

I seafoamed my Ex a while ago.. didn't really notice much difference in anything other than really smoking out the neighborhood! I sometimes run a bottle of Techron through the tank if I'm going on an extended trip. Again, probably does nothing other than make me feel better. Most of that stuff is snake oil.

Agree 100%. Many techs agree, if you only use one additive, make it Techron.

I'm really bummed, Chevron is rebranding to Texaco after being here over 50 years.

Still better than tesoro or aloha

I appreciate the help guys! Ill definitely check out that additive.

^ Agree. Regardless if they come from the same local refineries, I still consider them no name "mystery gas". LOL

Very interesting link. There is a Murphy Oil (@ Walmart) that I frequent and that isn't even on the list. And Costco gas is listed as a top tier retailer and Sams is not. There is a QT on my way to work that I thought was cheap stuff but turns out to be top tier.

PS: I have a relative in Tennessee that owns a Pilot station. He swears his gas is high quality stuff. Pilot is not listed at all. I may have to mention this info to him! Ha!

Seafoam works, is not snake oil but only if your engine needs it.
Mine doesn't because it gets enough highway to keep things clean so a Seafoam treatment wouldn't do anything or do much anyway.

I'd say the biggest reason your exhaust mod didn't nett a result is that the old one was adequate to the task.
