V8 Idle Hunts When Cold

now that it's getting colder out, i've noticed that both my 5.0 V8's do the same thing. it's not a big deal, but i just wonder why they do it.

when first started, the idle is a little higher than warm-normal, which is to be expected, but after a minute or so and before the idle returns to a steady warm-normal, it will "hunt" a 100 rpm or so. does anyone else's do this and does anyone know why they do it? i assume its a PCM thing...
 






Mine has started to hold 3rd & 4th gears a little longer now that the temps have dropped. It's a known fact that Fords don't like the cold. But in your case it could be a PCM issue.
