I was told that the vacum modulator on the X was bad and needs to be replaced, looked in my Haynes manual and it looks to be a big PITA,has anyone done this and is it a PITA??

It is not one of the most fun jobs, mainly due to space. You will need to access the nut that holds the heat shield on, and remove the heat shield. the stud which provides the bolt for that nut you just removed then needs to be removed so the bracket which holds the modulator can come off.

It is important to note that right behind the modulator is a small (1/8 in dia) pin... don't lose it when you remove the modulator, and be careful putting it back in.

Otherwise, it ain't so bad <g>.
