Hello all~

I have a 1994 XL 4.0L OHV. Have a vacuum leak, and I've checked all the vacuum lines I can get at. Everything checks out fine, even the lower intake manifold itself. I still hear a low SSSSSSSs that sounds like a leak. On the underside of the throttle body, there is a little metal tube that goes to a short rubber hose, a plastic 90 degree pipe, another section of hose, and then that goes to this cylindrical white plastic thing that appears to have an electrical connection at the rear. I hear a vacuum leak coming from that relative direction. First of all, what is this plastic thing under my intake... I see a nice crack on the front of that, so could that be what my leak is coming from? and also, how tough would it be to yank that out and either RTV the crack or replace the part altogether? I've checked manuals galore and haven't found much. Any ideas or input would be well apreciated. take care!

Take a pic if you can.

A pic would be nice.
One guess -- is it your CANP (CANnister Purge) valve/tubing?

if what im thinking it is is correct then its the little tube that comes off of the throttle body. I dont know where it goes but it has a 90 degree plastic elbow in it just like you said. I actually got a new plastic elbow when i bought the BBK 66mm throttle body.

if thats what it is it wont even take an hour to replace... remove the upper intake, the throttle and its connected to that.

yeah... i did some research and found it is my canister purge.... has anyone had one of these crack or the hoses to it dry out and cause a leak and high idle condition??
