Does anyone know if the 3rd generation Explorers, specifically a 2004 Limited, would have come with a valet key when it was new? I bought this used, as a one owner. It has both keys and both remotes, but no valet key, and I was just wondering if Ford even offered them on the Explorers for 2004.

Does anyone here who bought their 3rd gen new have a valet key?

I don't believe so. I know my mom's 05 didn't have anything like that.

nope. not on mine sorry,

What's the point? There's no lock on the glovebox or center console, and to get in the trunk, they can just hop over the row of seats :P

A valet key would do things like lower the speed limiter, rev limiter. Basically make it so you couldn't do to many stupid things with somebody else's car.

Something a multi-position chip could probably do. One spot for stock tune, next spot for Valet.

Good point. I thought my Aviator I had a couple years ago had one, but maybe it was my LS that did... I just don't remember.
