I have been searching for valve body separator gaskets for my 99 Ford Explorer with the 5R55E transmission. I have found several for sale but none of them appear to be the "bonded type". They look just to be the paper gasket. The part numbers I have been searching are F5TZ-7C155-A and #F5TZ-7D100-B . Does anyone know of a place to buy the bonded gaskets (except Ford---they want $55 for the pair.)

Updated: Went to my Ford dealer to get the bonded gaskets. The parts guy looked them up and claimed there is no such thing as bonded gaskets...or at least Ford does not have them. All he had listed was paper gaskets.

You have to get the separator plate with the gaskets
bonded to it as one unit. They weren't very expensive
when I last bought one, but it's been several years ago.

Would you happen to have a ford part number for the separator plate with the gaskets bonded to it? The Ford parts guy i talked with did not have a clue what i was talking about.

I'm the biggest pack rat ever, so I found the empty box
for the sep plate with the old one still in it.
The number on it is: 1L5Z-7Z490-GA.

I don't remember what I paid for it, but thought it
was a reasonable price. Might have been 20-30 bucks
but that was several years ago.

Thank you for the part number on the separator plate. I am wondering if there is anything else I should address while putting in the separator plate? The main problem with my transmission is the slow shift to reverse and "flaring" on the shift to 2nd and 3rd. I'm thinking specifically of the pressure relief valve 3L5Z-7M203-JA . Also any seals etc to replace?

That's a good post by 2000StreetRod on the flare cure,
with excellent pics. I did basically the same to cure mine,
with the addition of a Superior Shift Kit. I threw everything
at it; the revised separator plate, new EPC, Superior kit,
new solenoid bracket, and 'D'-ring for the reverse servo.

After reassembly, the flare was fixed but I can't say
exactly what fixed it. One thing I noticed at the time was
the Superior kit had a steel replacement spool for a stock
aluminum one. Aluminum on aluminum tends to gall, so
that might have been a factor with the spool sticking in it's
bore...?

My flare started around 40K miles and I fixed it around 50K,
and the Sport now has 155K with no trans problems. So it
was a permanent fix. I also added Lubegard in the red bottle
and have used it ever since...
